Objective To analyze possible risk factors for burn injury among elementary school students in suburban Fuyang city.Methods By using stratified random cluster sampling method,a total of 1 223 students from 2 primary schools in suburb Fuyang city were selected.Results Among the 1 223 pupils with eligible data,126(10.3%) had ever been burned,including 90 boys and 36 girls,with boys higher than that of girls (14.2% and 6.1%,P<0.05).Burning injury decreased with age,with the lower grade students 15.3% and the higher grade students 4.8%.Among all kinds of bum injury,the proportion of hot water bums was the highest (69.8%).Students with parents being rural migrant workers and with low education level had higher bum injury rates,8.3% and 6.9%,respectively.Multivariate analysis showed that gender,grade,parental occupation and education background was significant risk factors for bum injury among primary students.Conclusion Bum injury among primary school students remains high in suburb Fuyang city,which in turn provide hints for the further exploration of possible risk factors that are important in planning strategies for future prevention in family,community and school settings.
